Gamifying Conservation
It was a simple idea - use beer coasters at local breweries to spark interest in conservation.
The initial request was simple, too - slap together some graphics and a catchy message alongside a QR code and call it a day. Sure, it could have been effective if done well - after all, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
Sometimes.
Other times, it’s boring.
The bar isn’t the place for boring. Bars and breweries are where grown-ups go to play; they’re places for connection, conversation, flirtation, laughter, TMI oversharing, and above all, FUN. Therefore, the way I saw it, our coasters had to be all of those things and more.
Find Out how to play
The Conservation Game
What I eventually came up with was a slightly scandalous, occasionally naughty, potentially embarrassing, PG-or-R-rated-depending-on-how-you-play-it, fill-in-the-blanks coaster drinking game in the style of Cards Against Humanity.
Although it was inspired by - and bares some resemblance to - said infamous card game, it is by no means identical. In fact, I spent many days researching similar games to make sure my questions weren’t accidentally reproducing or plagiarizing them. I wanted something that we could own 100%, so it had to be original.
The result? An engaging, funny, flirty, totally TMI, bar-appropriate fundraising tool that promotes conservation awareness through entertainment and direction interaction.
Dove Hunt T-Shirt
Vintage style for modern hunters.
The Three Rivers annual dove hunt is one of their biggest and most popular events. With record turnouts expected for the 2024 hunt, I wanted to pump it up in the fashion department.
This original design was inspired by the beautiful Peters High Velocity shotgun shell boxes from the 1950s. A good number of our attendees remembered using these very shells as young men and women, and the younger shooters dug the retro aesthetic.
Did you know?
For the hunting-illiterate (like me), there’s a pun hidden in the design. The word “leading” in “leading the way” can also refer to “leading a shot”, a hunting term used to describe the act of aiming slightly ahead of a fast-flying bird. The more you know!
